Pastor Mike Cepela Updated June 2015 In my many years of living, it seems like instead of an evolutionist proclaiming hard scientific evidence in favor of the theory of evolution, they seem to be more intent on telling creationists they should not hold on to creationism. Although, if you look at it with proper objectivity, creationism deserves at least the common respect given to any theory. If you investigate some of the scientific research, you can find theories that are not only patently absurd but also at best laughable. Yet there seems to be no display of animosity nor hostility, even though some scientific theories are such a stretch that it clearly demonstrates a greater faith then that which is required to believe in God himself. Many times people will respond to such a statement, saying, “It’s not the same thing because these other theories are scientific.” In truth, these questionable theories are cloaked in scientific terminology. This is where the science ends and the baseless conjecture begins. This new evolutionary theory goes something like this: “Creationism and Intelligent Design are poor theories because if you look at the human body as well as other biological creatures you will find them at best a very poor design.” They say if your going to believe God made man, you are going to be embarrassed because of how poorly designed the human body is. Is that a statement clearly displaying sound research using precise scientific measurements? For years, the scientific community as well as the evolutionist community has applauded and spoke about the amazing complexity that is the human body. Now in view of the progression of creationists, the evolutionary community suddenly claims the body isn’t amazing and beautifully made, but rather it’s an embarrassment and that one should avoid attributing such a thing to a divine being because it would be inconsistent with the creation of a perfect divine being. A typical example of this is that an evolutionist will say that a human being has his blood vessels in front of his retina and yet a sea creature like a squid has his blood vessels behind his retina. The evolutionists call this absurd. However, evolutionists will fail to further explain that if a human being did not have these vessels in front of his retina, the ultraviolet rays from the Sun would quickly blind him. The evolutionists also forget to mention that water blocks ultraviolet rays. Therefore, the squid would have no reason to need retinal protection and therefore the blood vessels are behind the retina. Does this reek of a poor design, or just the opposite: an intelligent design so as to protect the retina? I’ll let you decide that one. What does that say when a scientific mind purposely omits such a fact so as to better make his point against the Creationist community? It indicates the same thing that the “Flawed Design Theory” indicates; which is that evolutionist is lacking when trying to mount a counter argument when debating a creationist. They show a move that could be interpreted as desperation. There was a time not long ago when one of the beauties of science was the sheer beauty of discovery that was driven and supplied by carefully measured research. But, now there seems to be a driving force to block and discourage certain conclusions. This is not because they lack any scientific measurement, but rather because they simply do not agree with the status quo. We as intelligent human beings should never resist new discovery simply because an old theory could be shown to be less accurate. It seems to me that it’s the same old song, “Discourage anything that disagrees with evolution.” It is just changing the name. Pastor Mike Cepela is the Senior Pastor at New Life Assembly.
